CW3 OER Writing Guide
The CW3 OER evaluates a senior warrant officer serving as an advanced technical expert and systems integrator. CW3s are expected to operate at the battalion level and above, providing expertise that bridges tactical operations and institutional systems. Evaluators look for strategic technical impact.
Typical duties:
Battalion-level or higher technical expert advising senior leaders on complex systems
Manages multi-faceted programs spanning maintenance, logistics, intelligence, or aviation operations
Integrates technical systems across the organization to improve operational capability
Develops training programs and certification standards for technical personnel across the battalion
Serves on boards, working groups, and institutional panels representing the warrant officer corps
Provides reach-back expertise to subordinate units on advanced technical challenges
