CPT OER Writing Guide
The CPT OER evaluates company commanders and senior staff officers. This is one of the most pivotal evaluations in a commissioned officer's career — command performance directly shapes promotion and future assignments.
Typical duties:
Company commander responsible for 100-200 Soldiers across multiple platoons
Manages company training strategy and aligns with battalion METL
Accountable for equipment valued at $10M+ and manages company budget
Leads organizational-level planning and executes complex operations
Develops platoon leaders, XO, and First Sergeant as a cohesive leadership team
Represents the company at battalion and brigade-level planning events
Example bullets:
o commanded a 150-Soldier company through a nine-month deployment, achieving 100% mission accomplishment with zero preventable losses
o managed a $12M company property book with zero losses at both the internal and external command supply discipline inspections
o developed a training strategy that raised the company’s weapons qualification rate from 82% to 98%
o built a cohesive command team with the XO and first sergeant that sustained readiness through two changes of platoon leadership
