SFC NCOER Writing Guide

The SFC NCOER evaluates platoon sergeants and senior NCOs in key leadership positions. Evaluators expect broader organizational impact — influencing company operations, managing significant resources, and developing multiple subordinate leaders.

Typical duties:

Platoon sergeant responsible for training, discipline, and welfare of 30-40 Soldiers

Principal advisor to the platoon leader on all enlisted matters

Manages platoon budget, property, and maintenance operations

Develops squad leaders and ensures NCO professional development

Coordinates logistics and sustainment for platoon operations

Represents platoon at company-level planning and operations meetings
